NETWORKING FOR A CAUSE – HAITI RELIEF EVENT RAISES OVER $3,000
Richmond, Virginia: February 2, 2010. Paychex, Inc., Business Network International (BNI) – Central Virginia, and Bar Louie hosted a business networking event on February 1st to support relief in Haiti that raised $3,156. The goal of this event was to raise $1,000 to purchase ShelterBoxes for the victims in Haiti. (www.shelterboxusa.org).
Esra Kazanoglu, a Sales Representative with Paychex, Inc., who chaired the event said “We are very excited about the results of this event. The Richmond business community really stepped-up to the plate to buy not just one ShelterBox, but three. We also raffled off over 30 prizes from a number of businesses who helped make Networking for a Cause a success. Thanks.”
We’d like to give a special thanks to all of the volunteers who helped to collect contributions for this event, including Jimmy Stump and the Bar Louie staff, the VCU Rams Cheerleading Team, and many other individuals. Live music was provided for the event by The Dave Tinney Band. A ShelterBox is a large, rugged, green plastic container that holds a 10-person tent and a range of other equipment – visit www.shelterboxusa.org to learn more about the organization providing these boxes. In general, typical box contents could include thermal blankets and insulated ground sheets, waterproof ponchos and bin bags, a multi-fuel stove that can burn anything from diesel to old paint, cooking pans, utensils, bowls and mugs, collapsible water containers and water purification tablets, a basic tool kit (hammer, axe, saw, pliers, hoe head, trenching shovel, rope, etc.), and a small children's pack containing drawing books, crayons, pens, etc.
